Unknown Precipitation was composed as part of the Oklahoma Composers Association Composers in the Schools residency program, and takes its name from a weather phenomenon apparently inherent to Oklahoma that I as a Missourian had not experienced. The work begins with a sort of metered precipitation in the xylophone, which then spreads to the rest of the ensemble. Scored for four marimbas, two vibraphones, xylophone, glockenspiel, chimes, four aux. percussion, and timpani.
